This plant is an amazing vining plant with turtle shaped leaves and turtle patterns on its leaves. The String of Turtles are native to the rainforests of Brazil/South America - for the healthiest plants we need to emulate those conditions - humid loamy conditions with lots of bright indirect light/filtered sunlight and I cannot stress the importance of humidity enough. This plant will thrive in humidity and bright indirect light.
Water and soil - this plant vines on trees in the rainforest and is used to water running right by it frequently, never sitting in any kind of moisture. Your plant will arrive in a 100% spaghnum peat based soil and I recommend you keep the plant in a peat based soil because peat is “hydrophobic” or repels water- therefore peat will help ensure water runs by your plant- similar to a rainforest frequent misting of your plant vs deep watering of your plant will produce a very healthy plant. The plant’s leaves are very succulent and store water well so focus on not overwatering this plant- if you overwater scab like scarring will appear on your plant’s leaves- again to avoid overwatering mist your plant well and frequently vs any deep watering.
We ship plants in their pots on Monday and Tuesdays so plants have best chance for arrival within the week to avoid sitting in mail over a weekend.
